A gathering at the Crossroads

E-mail Print PDF

The Swissotel Merchant Court was the place to be for all Spurs fans to gather and witness the Carling Cup Final against Chelsea on Sunday 24 February 2008.

Early that Sunday afternoon, the committee members and volunteers began dressing up the Crossroads Bar with the kind of finesse and minute attention to details that even Juande Ramos himself would have been proud of. Balloons in white and blue as well as Spurs pennants and banners were well placed for maximum visual impact. A St. George’s flag with the word ‘TOTTENHAM’ emblazoned in the middle immediately caught the eye and stood out proudly for all to see.

White Hart Lane beckons!

E-mail Print PDF

It was noon time on a chilly Sunday of 28th November 2004. My wife Sylvia and I, along with Ash and his better half (Vivian), sought shelter from the cold at Camden Town Tube Station. We were waiting for Wilson, the fifth member of our group to join us before we embarked on our most memorable journey...

At about 12.30pm, I spotted Wilson (whom I’ve not met previously) from a crowd walking towards the station. The white, blue and yellow scarf around his neck was a dead giveaway and without which, he would have been ‘Sad-ly Beyond’ recognition. And off we went…White Hart Lane beckons!

SSSC 5's 2004

E-mail Print PDF

The first ever SSSC 5’s was held at the St. Wilfrid’s Sports Complex on the 27 June 2004. This was the 1st soccer tournament organized by SSSC since its inauguration in 2002. The event focused on bringing together fans of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club with a pinch of competitiveness. The half day event was graciously embraced with the presence of former Tottenham legend Gerry Armstrong. The former Tottenham forward dropped by to show his support for the event organized by SSSC.

A total of thirteen teams participated in the SSSC 5’s boasting teams comprised of three SSSC members each. A tournament format, similar to that of the Fifa World Cup, with the only twist being two groups instead eight in the preliminary stage. The top two teams from each group would qualify for the semi-finals…You know the rest! The teams played 5minute halves in the group stages and 7minute halves from the semi-final onwards.

  • wangdean : hope defoe's injury isn't too serious. if he can't play this wkend, who will be yr preferred frontmen? crouch n pav? crouch n keane? pav n keane? or just lone striker with van der Vardt playing in the hole behind him?
  • whiterhyno : You may not like it when our players play for NT's but it is that aspiration which helped drive them to become the top-level footballers they are. Have you ever been given the opportunity to represent your country?
  • lordjr : I am not sure what does Spurs gain from Defoe's hatrick. It might does his own morale good but we are also risking him. Mind that he was supposed to go on surgery or in another word he is not 100% fit
  • kataklinski : There is still Kaboul as a backup CD. Folks seem to forget about him!
  • limbei : so what about defoe, lordjr?
  • lordjr : So much pride of playing for your nation, now we have Dawson out for 2 mths and Lennon is having terrible hangover. I bet RVDV would be the same as well though he's injured for most part of the tournament
  • wangdean : With king as he is, gallas may end up being the regular CD for us, partnering bassong for e mid-week games n king for e weekends, if king's knees permits.
  • vinod25 : We need a defender fast as backup. Gallas is a good replacement. With KIng, it looks awesome.
  • reuters : dawson will be out for at least 6 weeks.. OMG!
  • armstrong_11 : Dawson could be out for awhile..........
